Toss

The toss is the coin flip that happens before a cricket match begins. The two team captains meet with the match referee, and one captain calls “heads” or “tails.” The winner of the toss decides whether their team will bat or bowl first.

The toss can be very important because it influences how the match plays out — for example, pitch conditions or weather might make batting easier or harder at different times.
